Toyota is Bringing Production of its First Hybrid Powertrain to the U.S.

Last month, Toyota revealed the company's plans to invest $373.8 million in five U.S. manufacturing plants in order to support production of its first American-made hybrid powertrain and implement Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) at its plant in Alabama.

The investments will allow facilities in Tennessee, Missouri, West Virginia and Kentucky to expand their capabilities to manufacture 2.5-liter engines and hybrid vehicle transmissions, which will be used in hybrid vehicles like the Highlander Hybrid that's built in Princeton, Indiana.

Toyota Celebrates a Decade of Partnering with Michigan Habitat for Humanity

Last week, Toyota Motor North America Research and Development (TMNA R&D) announced that it was doubling its commitment to Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley by providing the funding for full house renovations for two single Ypsilanti mothers. This year, more than 300 volunteers will help renovate the two homes to honor the partnership between the company and the charity.

Toyota TCU STEM Awards Handed Out to Four Tribal Colleges

Recently, Toyota recognized Southwestern Indian Polytechnic institute (SIPI), Ilisagvik College, Sitting Bull College and Fort Peck Community College for their Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs. Each school was awarded with a cash prize from the American Indian College Fund to help them continue projects focused on environmental sustainability and engineering.

Toyota Prius Prime tops the Kelley Blue Book 2017 Best Buy Awards list for the Electric / Hybrid Category

With 2016 fast drawing to a close, many auto critics and journals are counting down their best cars of the year. One such source of automotive news and reviews is the venerable Kelley Blue Book, which caps off its year with the Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards.
