Dare to Compare the 2023 vs. 2024 Toyota Tacoma

Few trucks are as legendary as the Toyota Tacoma. It’s why legions of owners affectionately refer to their pickups as “Tacos” and why so many buyers are planning which Toyota TRD accessories they want to buy before they’ve even finished signing the paperwork with our finance team. This kind of passion among fans is why an all-new Tacoma release is a can’t-miss event — and why the fully redesigned 2024 Toyota Tacoma is making waves among die-hard enthusiasts and casual shoppers alike.

But exactly what did Toyota do with the new Tacoma to distinguish it from its much-loved predecessor? In short, they went through the truck top to bottom to ensure it retains its class-leading capability and timeless charm for years to come. New interior technology, new off-roading hardware and, of course, all-new styling grace are just some of the ways that the 2024 Tacoma earns a place for itself in the pantheon of iconic Toyota trucks.

Thinking you want to perform your own 2023 vs. 2024 Toyota Tacoma comparison? You can do so at our Brookhaven Toyota dealer. We can’t wait to show you why the new Tacoma is the truck for you.

2023 vs. 2024 Toyota Tacoma: Changes, Upgrades & More

It’s hard to change a product that many already consider perfect, yet brand engineers deftly approached the new Toyota Tacoma redesign to both satisfy the model’s ardent fans while further increasing its appeal among buyers new to the fold. This is particularly true under the hood, where some excellent new Tacoma engine options are now available.

In the 2023 Tacoma, Mississippi drivers had the choice of either a 159-horsepower 4-cylinder or a 3.5-liter V6 making 278 horsepower. Both options have been retired in favor of two turbocharged 4-cylinder engines. The standard powertrain now generates 278 horsepower — a perfect match for what the larger Tacoma V6 generated — while an available hybrid variant of this same engine bumps output to 326 horsepower.

Even more impressive than these horsepower figures is the 465 pound-feet of torque that the 2024 Tacoma hybrid is capable of. Clearly, this is a new Toyota truck that’s built to haul. We think longtime Brookhaven Tacoma owners will love this jump in power, especially after taking a test-drive.

What doesn’t change? The availability of a 6-speed manual transmission. In a world where the stick shift is harder and harder to find in new cars, Toyota stands firm in offering this beloved gearbox — one of the truck’s most unique selling points among all midsize trucks for sale in Mississippi and elsewhere.
